What is this?

And maybe a dumb question.

But if that is a Motec ignition output signal. Why are there multiple signals then a gap. And why is there a much longer magnetic trace ?

It would seem more indicative of a crank/cam trigger trace of some sort ?

hall sensor wiring is less important, but good practice to shield them.

But most important is routing them well away and never parallel to any high voltage wiring.

And as the MSD can trigger the coils at around 500v, these too should be considered high voltage as well as the actual HT leads themselves.

Despite this problem, does the engine run, and is ignition timing as commanded on the map tables ?

this car mapping now...this is a new project...but my old car is running same management... (M4 pro,MSD Dis4,MSD coil, same HT leads)

the two trigger is doing shielded cable...
the MSD all wires running "away" from all other cables

this is two sensor.....the crank sensor 36-1(motec trigger) HALL GT101...(the left OEM the right from Motec drawing)

the cam trigger only 1 tooth OEM magnetic sensor (OEM the inlet cam)

You said the scope trace was of the Motec's ignition output to the MSD ?

But most of the scope traces look like a crank and cam trigger ?

The input signal is the same...I think it is a central problem... :geek:
but what is it? :D

It's obviously interference.

And you still havent answered any questions.

Does the engine run ?

does it run normally ?

Is ignition timing as commanded ?

Does this interference actually cause a problem ?

The noise is from the ignition system, move the timing around and you will find the noise will move as well.

Are you using resistive spark plugs? If not use them.
Are you using suppressed ignition leads? If not use them.

He answered some of them.

Are you running a condenser?
Are all the ECU sensor wires run as twisted pairs?

the ref HALL
sync magnetic
no i not running condenser, and not twist the sensor pair... :?

I would take care of those before the resistive wires...

the engine is run...but higher RPM misfire and MSD blink3
