Bosch ME throttle body- idle control

Postby Scott@FP on Wed Apr 25, 2012 2:00 am

Audi/VW etc. ME ECU type cable operated throttle body (408-237-212-008Z) with what appears to be a DC Servo motor for idle control, very similar to later full DBW units.

What is needed to enable idle control on these (Full DBW, DC Servo etc.), and is there a setup sheet?

Well I guess the correct answer is "not worth trying" FYI, too much trickery involved.

Can you give me a little more info on this? So it's a cable throttle but the DC servo moves the butterfly?

Yes, just prior to full DBW, the units look exactly the same as the Siemens/VDO DBW units, except has a cable, only difference is the motor operated blade travel has an internal stop (~15 degrees) and it has a closed throttle switch. Has both a TPS for cable operated blade travel and a separate TPS for motor operated blade travel. I'm guessing mid-90's to 99/00 time frame. DC Servo motor, 100 ohm coil. 8 pin connector , pin 1 and 2 motor, pin 3 closed throttle switch, pin 4 5v, pin 5 motor TPS, pin 7 sensor gnd, pin 8 blade TPS.
