Setup Sheets

Postby Apex Speed Tech on Sun Sep 28, 2008 3:25 am

I'm having some issues with the setup sheets. I modified the MOTEC generated one with values from my own setup sheets. All I did was change channel names. Now:

1. Every time I open the setup sheet, I get an error that says "Failed to open 'C:\.......xls' Please ensure you have entered you have entered the correct setup sheet passord in i2"

There is no password.

2. When I try to save the setup sheet in excel, it says "cannot be saved in the current format. To save your changes, click OK, then save it as the latest format. The system wants to save it as an "xlsm" file.

3. So I do that, and then MOTEC can't find the spreadsheet, so my list of constants from the setup sheet is blank.

Then, at some point I2 refreshes and loads all my constants. Even though the filename in the "setup sheet file" box does not match my filename.

I've tried to save it as an Excel 2003 file with an .xls extension, and it does not load the constants from my data source. All marco and active X security has been turned off.

Any ideas?

Also, I'm having a problem with my "rear wheel travel" channel. Its very simple, just 'Damper Pos Rear'*'Rear Motion Ratio'. Damper Pos Rear is a logged channel, and motion ratio calculates just fine. But the resultant is completely nonsensical. For example, at a certain point, I have a damper pos of 6.27mm and a motio ratio of 0.488, but the travel reads -159034.25. Mind you, the trace on the plot does make sense if you autoscale it.

Any ideas on this? I can't upload my customer's math definitions, datasets or setup sheets for confidentiality reasons but I will email them directly to MOTEC engineers if requested.

Hi Neel,

I've taken a look at your setup sheet you sent through.
It seems to work fine. I just changed the Vehicle ID of my log file to suit your file name and changed the date on the setup sheet to suit my log file and all the values came through after hitting save.

I'm using i2 Version 1.0.3.106 (current release), Vista Business and Office 2007. When starting a new setup sheet i have the same message saying Excel want to save in the new format. After clicking OK, in the Save As window always save the file as a 'Excel 97-2003 Workbook' not the new formats, as i2 currently only works correctly with .xls files. After the file has been saved as a .xls in the newer version of Excel the file works as expected, far as i can see.
I didn't have any problems changing channel names either.

What versions of everything are you using??

Your problem with the motion ratio calculation is a bit odd. Can you give me some more details on it. 'Damper Pos Rear' is logged i'm guessing but where does 'Rear Motion Ratio' come from? Is it entered in the equation, come from a setup sheet or a constant? And what do you have the other channel settings set to, especially display unit and result unit?

The rear motion ratio is a 2nd order equation determined by a curve fit in excel. No units for display or resultant.
