M800 Does Not Communicate with MDC

Postby anthony_hk2001 on Tue Mar 20, 2012 9:41 am

As topic stated.

UPDATE: The M800 does not communicate with the MDC at all,
not getting data from MDC, nor getting Eff point from M800.

I have connected the MDC to the M800 in a CAN network
And inputs are set with ECU2.
CAN communication is set with CAN1 - M800 ECU Receive.

I also tried connecting the RS232 from the OEM hardness to the M800 ECU,
still does not get the data.

Can anyone help me figure this out?
Note: I can read data from MDC manager.

Thanks,
Best Regards,
Anthony

Which EVO do you have? Only the EVO 10 communicates with the M800 via CAN, all older cars use RS232 only.

Can you email your M800 configuration to me along with the serial number of the ECU and MDC. mark.mccoy@motec.com.au.

And on the 9 and earlier models its a half-duplex situation, send from MDC to ECU only, the Tx from ECU is grounded.

Just incase anyone else is interested: If you have a "Gold Box" ECU in your earlier that EVO10 EVO the comms to the MDC is a half duplex RS232, not CAN. You need to make a bit of a circuit to make it work, this circuit is what is in an OEM M800. See attached.

Sorry I guess 'grounded' was a poor choice of words.

Once the half duplex circuit is set up, go to RS232 Setup, set Baud Rate 3841, data set to 6. Now all the MDC data will be available as "ECU2 XX" as listed in the MDC manual.
