PDM15 data to SDL3 to Shift Module

Postby rayhall on Thu Mar 15, 2012 10:30 am

I have a PDM15, SDL3 and Shift light module. The PDM15 is controlling the left and right turn indicators. I want to send the indicators.left.switch and indicators.right.switch information on the CAN bus so LED on the shift module will flash. In the SDL3 setup software under Monitor All, I cannot see any data from the PDM15. The ECU data can be seen by the SDL3. How do I setup the PDM15 so it is seen on the CAN bus.

Ray,
sorry for the delay, I didnt see this post.

If you go in to SDL3 manager, you can select from a list of about 10 PDM CAN templates which give your SDL3 access to:

Output Currents
Output diagnostics
Output status
Input status
PDM overall diagnostics
etc.

Add in the templates to the CAN section, and it will just start working (just check that you are transmitting these templates in PDM manager. (in the CAN outputs in PDM manager, you could turn these messages on or off with a tick box option)

When you set this up in the CDL3, you can use the SLM conditions to say "if indicator left output status is true" turn on this led, in this colour. (you could actually just place the PDM output status channel in the SDL3 from the PDM template straight into the channel enable condition in SLM setup area).

This will allow you to flash a left hand light green with the left indicator, and the right one for the right hand indicator....

you could do the same with high beams, headlight flash, basically any output status from the PDM can be used to control an SLM light using this method.

regards,

Jamie
