The engine is synchronizing & the Injectors are firing but the coil is not igniting spark

The coil used is Bosch 0 221 503 485

Is the attached setup page is correct or if changes need to be done suggest

What is the dwell time for this coil

Hi friend,

Are you sure that your ignition system is "rise trigger"? Normally is fall trigger in the most OEM system.. just check it, because if your charging is switch to ground, the wrong trigger can kill your ignition system due high dwell in high revs..

This coil in specific is usually used in Ford engines, correct? I never used this coil in specific..

But, i found the spec sheet for the 3x2-0 221 503 002 version (i believe that all hardware is the same, just more one output to work wasted in 6cyl).
Here you can see all data-sheet regarding current source and dwell times: http://www.bosch-motorsport.com/pdf/com ... ls/3x2.pdf

And like you can see, this ignition coil doesn´t include internal amplifier, so, you have to use external ignition module/amplifier. Motec cannot handle coil without amplifier direct.

I hope this help friend!

Regards!

Thanks for the reply

As we are not in the position to change the Ignition coil

What is the best suitable External Ignition modulator for the Bosch Ignition coil 0221 503 485 to use with Motec M400

If there is no module in the coil and you have wired it directly to the IGN output then there is a good chance you have damaged the ECU.
