SDL 3 and VIPEC V44 setup

Postby supercharged88 on Sat Jan 07, 2012 3:42 pm

Hi all,
has anybody tried to connect an SDL3 with a VIPEC V44 or V88 ECU using CANBUS.
I have a customers car with a V44 installed.
I have had the CANBUS modification done to the V44 to enable CANBUS as the ECU was pre 10 000 serial number.
I have setup the CAN comms settings in VTS (VIPEC software).
I have my laptop communicating with the dash,no problems.
I downloaded the MOTEC DASH config for the SDL3 from the LINK WEB SITE.
When i try to load the LINK FILE to dash manager CONFIG the file disappears.
This file is a template file for the dash to receive the CAN data from the VIPEC.
Anyone have any ideas on what i am doing wrong.
Thanks in advance.
Dave.

I have found the downloaded dash config.is stored and only selectable in the RS 232 comms tab under communications.
I have also noticed that the Dash config file on the Link site ends with RS 232 and also has CR7 at the end.
All of the dash config files that are default in Dash Manager for Canbus end in CC7 when you check their properties and also state they are Canbus.
Looks as though it is only for RS 232 comms and not Canbus.
Unless i am doing something wrong.
Anyone have any ideas that i can try.
Regards
Dave.

We have a Vipec ECU at work which we used to make the template.

Unfortunately, our V44 doesnt have CAN enabled, and has to be sent back to New Zealand to be retro fitted with the CAN stuff, so that we can do that work.

If you send us the CAN details, Im sure that we can make it work, or if you are local, we could test it with your ECU.

Hi Jamie,
thanks for the reply.
So the Motec/Link config is for RS 232 only,
I will source the Canbus info and forward it to you.
Thanks again,
Regards
Dave.

Hi Jamie,
I loaded the dash template and set everything up.
I downloaded the dash config into the SDL3 and everything works fine.
I have attached the working template for the VIPEC to SDL and ADL.
I hope i have attached it correctly.
Regards
Dave.
