Data down the CAN when an ecu has no logging enabled?

OK, thanks Holmz, so how should I set the "Gain" column for reading Sats in Use and Sat Quality? Options in screenshot linked below.

I would start with the 8x1 (LSB) - but you would have to look at the output stream (RS232) for the GPS to be sure.
Or just disk around with it until you get 6-9 to show up.

Not sure where the satellite quality data is coming from, it doesn't appear in any obviously named category in the GPS RS232 streams:
