Looking for Porsche 996 Ref/Sync configuration

Postby Mazi on Thu Sep 18, 2008 12:05 am

M600... Turbocharged 3.6l engine.

I would like to stay with stock sensors. Magnetic 60-2 Ref and Hall 4 teeth (2 wide- 2 narrow) CAM sensor for SYNC.
Can't find any info about max voltage on ref input. With one side of stock sensor connected to GND voltage swing will be over 40V P/P.

Any info about PID CAM control configuration is welcome too.

The ref/sync mode you need to use in this case is one of the OEM modes it should be mode 17, the sync edge polarity for this mode is normally rise edge, the ref edge polarity will depend on the way in which the mag sensor has been wired.

The ref input will cope with the voltages that you are seeing without any problems so using this sensor will be ok.

I don't appear to have any settings for the cam control PID unfortunately, someone else may be able to help you there.

Just so you know, on 996's, we've had to install a 220k resistor between crank and ground, or you'll lose your ref signal at high RPMs.
