Firing order on rotaries

Postby ElsmoortelG on Fri Sep 12, 2008 9:23 pm

Normally the firing order of the ECU is 1,2,3,4 ...
For piston engine's you have to wire the correct order. For example on a 4-cylinder :
1 - IGN 1
3 - IGN 2
4 - IGN 3
2 - IGN 4

For a 2 rotor the firing order is : Leading 1, Trailing 1, Leading 2, Trailing 2
Trailing 1 comes x° after leading 1 depending what you mention in the rotory split table.
180° later then Leading 1 comes Leading 2

So I would think that normally the wiring is as follows :

L1 - IGN 1
T1 - IGN 2
L2 - IGN 3
T2 - IGN 4

but in the data-sheets it is mentioned as :

L1 - IGN 1
T1 - IGN 3
L2 - IGN 2
T2 - IGN 4

Can somebody explain the filosofy behind.

The Rotary outputs function as primary and secondary outputs. In a normal 4 cylinder application with primary and secondary injectors the primary injectors use the first 4 injector outputs and the secondaries use the next four. It is the same on a Rotary except we have "secondaries" for the injectors as well. This does not affect the opperation of the ECU, just the labelling of the outputs.

I understand your thinking but the documentation is correct.

Hello,

I am talking about ignition but for injection probably the same.
For a four cylinder with secondary injectors does this mean you have to wire :

INJ 1 - cyl 1
INJ 2 - cyl 3
INJ 3 - cyl 4
INJ 4 - cyl 2
INJ 5 - cyl 1
INJ 6 - cyl 3
INJ 7 - cyl 4
INJ 8 - cyl 2

Correct, you can check this on the injector outputs in the software if you enter the firing order you are using and turn the secondary injection on by entering a number other than 0 for the Secondary Inj Ratio.

Hoi Nathan,

Can't really understand what you mean. O% means 100 % on the secondaries.
Could you explain it a bit more ?

thanks

You enable the secondary injectors by putting a non-sero number in the "Secondary Inj Ratio" parameter, you will find this in Adjust/General Setup/Fuel/Secondary Setup. This selects the ratio between the flow rate of the primary and secondary injectors. Once you have set this up secondary injection is enabled and you can see how the injector channels have been asigned.
