BAD CAN DATA

Postby MANDALAY on Mon Jul 25, 2011 8:49 pm

I have the M800 with a MDD everything was going well till Saturday .
Start the car and it idles beautiful. Start to rev as soon it reaches 2,000 rpm it stops fuel ( i can hear the fuel pump relay click as it is under the dash ) but it then still idles.
At that moment the MDD says BAD CAN DATA.
Looking at the MDD manual BAD CAN DATA is

Bad CAN data The M800 telemetry stream is not the correct length
Check that CAN Data Set 3 has been selected in the M800 configuration ?

What is that ? i dont have telemetry im confused

Sounds like you have a wiring problem in there somewhere. The ECU will turn the relay off if the RPM stops for longer than the "delay" parameter in the fuel pump out put so if it is turning on and off at a certain RPM I would more suspect the power/ground to the ECU is dodgy....backed up by the loss of CAN data.

Unfortunately we dont know ? Could of been something with the power to the ECU.
The time that it happened was just as the 6" plus guy from the tyre place was going to put the car on the rack for a 4 wheel alignment.
Maybe his 14 size shoes caught some of the dangling wires under the dash and did something to the alarm. Either way the files have been down loaded and sent to MoTec to see if they can see anything unusual. But i am so very happy right now, after the last tune it just feels and behaves just AWESOME
