Backwards compatibility of the new M1 ecus?

Postby Chris Wilson on Fri Jul 01, 2011 8:40 pm

I am wondering how the future will see compatibility with data loggers, dash boards and peripherals like VCS, GPS and ignition modules used with M*00 series ecus, with the new range of M series ecu's? I was going to buy maybe an EDL and the VCS gear, but suddenly had a thought I might be buying gear that would be incompatible or in some way obsolete with an M series ecu. Can you explain how backwards compatibility will work here please? Thanks.

EDL, VCS, GPS, IGN modules will all still be compatiable with M1.

On a current test car we have M170, SDL3, PDM15, VCS, SLM, GPS.

It all works no problems.

Jamie
