MLS For LS7 Install.

Discussion and support for MoTeC's earlier generation ECUs

MLS For LS7 Install.

Postby dwrights on Wed Aug 05, 2009 8:10 pm

Hello,

I'm currently installing an LS7 in a project I'm doing and was thinking of using a Motec MLS. Can you tell me if I can use the Sport Dash Logger with this ECU and weather this ecu would be the right choice for a LS7?

Many Thanks,

David.

The MLS should be fine but I would recommend that you check the trigger pattern on the crankshaft to make sure that it is one that is suitable for the MLS, I am fairly sure it will have 60-2 on the crank and a single tooth on the cam. The SDL will connect to the MLS via RS232.

This is what I captured from an LS7,

I dont think you will have luck with the MLS unless you modify the the Sync cause this capture needs Mode17

You can still use the MLS - just dont use the camshaft input. It can be wasted spark batchfire off the 60-2.

this is the standard Cam trigger pattern for an LS2 engine - except for some early ones which used the LS1 trigger patterns.

ohh, yes it will work what way, its regular 60-2 and the MLS supports that for Gen4.

It will be batch fire spark and fuel in any case unless you had an IEX to add to it which would only have made the spark sequential.

All the LS1`s and 2`s ive done were mode 23.
All the LS7`s ive done were mode 17

I did get one oddball LS2(?) engine that had different sensors and it used the LS7 Mode. Im not sure where it was imported from, but one thing is certain, its not built in South Africa , we only have horses, donkeys and other 4strokes here.

Hi guys,
we are planning to use the LS7 (OEM spec) using M84 or M800.
Mode 17, both ref&synch Hall, wasted spark, sequential injection.
Has somebody already complete this work? Martin?

LS7`s ive had to do with:
Mode 17
CRT=60
ref,Hall,fall
sync,Hall,rise
Crip 84

with no IEX, wasted spark and sequential fuel. It works well.

use with care and double check all the values, i could be wrong :)
If you get the edges wrong it really does gives you trouble, have a lookout for those.
