Help with sdl gps set up

I have a M800 connected to a SDL with a 5 Htrz GPS Antenna. The GPS is working fine when used to track speed and generating track map. However, my desire is to have the GPS start and stop a timer for each lap. I configured the dash and now have the "lap time 0:00.00" displayed. I then went into the calculations/lap times.. in the MoTec Sports Dash Manager Program. From there I entered the Lat and Long from the start/finish position of my test loop. I assumed that after I download this change into the dash and drive past this point the next time by the lap timer would begin. It does not. I can answer any questions regarding what I am logging and what I have "turned on/off" if you ask me. I have been working on this for days and can't figure out my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I have done this a number of times, so I am sure that it works fine..

anyhow, how to do it is this:

Assuming you have the GPS working fine, write down the lat and long of the beacon point. Be careful to write down all of the numbers of resolution.

Next go into Dash Manager, then into the lap time and number tab under calculations.

Select GPS as the beacon type, put in a beacon radius of around 10m. change the
trigger to coordinate, then click edit. In the GPS Coordinates Editor tab, click add then insert the numbers that you wrote down earlier (use decimal degrees as the format)

Finally, send the changed config to the dash.

Next time that you go out, it should work fine. If not, go into the data, and look at the lat and long channels, ensuring that you have indeed passed within 10 metres of the points that you inserted earlier.

Do not use google earth or another GPS for creation of the lat and long points, as from previous testing, we have found that it is unlikely to give you the accuracy required for the beacon point settings.

Your instructions are exactly what I have been doing. Except I had 16feet instead of 10meters as the radius. I have changed my radius to 10m but I don't think that's the problem. One thing I am beginning to doubt is my lat/long numbers. I had the laptop connected to the car as it sat in my driveway. According to the real time logging info under Monitoring Channels in Sports Dash Manager, my lat is long is . These are the numbers I entered into the beacon trigger coordinates. Regarding my longitude of

Due to the fact I am entering this info as you stated is there another way to check if GPS is working properly?

Well, I completed the setup steps listed above. I also triple checked the Lat/Long numbers and so far nothing is working to get the lap timer to start counting. Can anyone help me better understand how to confirm the gps antenna is connected properly? I will say that the gps tracking is making wonderful track maps. Therefore, my guess is that the antenna is connected and configured properly? What are your thoughts?

could you please email me some data from when the GPS was all set up and you were getting no laps..

i would like to see what is happening in the logged data..

One other question for you, how fast are you traveling past the GPS point you have entered?? You must be traveling at greater than 20Km/h (~12mph) to trigger a GPS beacon.

You can also view the GPS coordinates used by the SDL by going to 'Online|View|GPS Beacon Definations' while connected.

Have you tried the 'Push Button' method for capturing the GPS coordinates?
