Single-lead Engine Oil Pressure Sensor

Postby Fast_Moto on Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:53 am

My engine uses a single lead engine oil pressure sensor. The sensor operates as follows. Normally, the sensor is closed and grounds the signal from the control unit. If the pressure is above a certain value, the switch is tripped. The input is a 5V signal only. How do I go about setting up this sensor for the Motec M880?

Hi,
The sensor is only a swtich so you could wire it to an AT input. There is not too much you can do with it when it comes to knowing what pressure the oil is at, in fact you probably should get a pressure tester and see exactly what value it switches at.

It should work ok. What did you want to use it for?

Thanks for the help. The sensor is a stock part on a motorcycle that indicates if the oil pressure is too low. The switch is tripped at 0.5+-0.2 bar.
