MoTeC rFactor-No Trackmaps Win7

Hi everybody.

Im using MoTeC for about a year now and it worked fine from the first try. Im using MoTeC i2 Pro 1.01.0082 with the rFactorDAQPlugin 1.3.2

It has worked as I said from the beginning. I just had to set the correct directions. Now since 2 months, MoTeC doesnt create Trackmaps anymore and dont even save them anymore into the Trackmaps folder. Before that it has created them automatically and everything was fine.

I have tried everything hint I've found on the internet, also here on the forum but nothing seems to work. I have reinstalled MoTeC, rFactor, DAQplugin but it is still the same, doesnt save/load Trackmaps and when I want to select any laps from Data it shows me all laps in one, f.e. when I've done 30 laps it shows me all in one lap.

I hope you guys can help me out! Thank you so far, and sorry about my poor english.

You will have to use lap editor to create start and finish points in your data. Track mapping only works in Circuit Project and requires a "Trusted" Lap therefore creating lap beacons is the key.

And I just want to say, that MoTeC has had done it on its own before, so it cant be the problem here.

Just to confirm for you, Rfactor has not been licensed to use MoTeC's i2 software.

The use of MoTeC's i2 application for data analysis with data generated either directly or indirectly by non MoTeC products unless that product has been licensed by MoTeC is a breach of copyright.

I bet rFactor has not been licensed to use it, but some clever people has get it working on rFactor and other SimRacing games, if you like it or not.

As I didnt know this and neither made anything to make it work, I guess I didnt breach any licensing. Also I did made a donation a year ago to MoTeC.

But still, can anyone help me who had the same issue?

As mentioned, rFactor are knowingly using MoTeC software illegally.

There are games, such as GTR that have correctly gone through the process of licensing the use of i2, and as such have the right to use MoTeC i2 software as part of their game.

As you would know, when you install i2, you agree to our Terms and Conditions on the use of i2, which states this: "The use of MoTeC's i2 application for data analysis with data generated either directly or indirectly by non MoTeC products unless that product has been licensed by MoTeC is a breach of copyright.". So be under no illusion, your use of i2 is certainly in breach of copyright.

We have spent an enormous amount of time and money building and enhancing i2 over the years, we have the right to ensure that only the people we authorise have access to this piece of software, do so.

Given all of this, we certainly don't have any intention to spend MoTeC's support time to support illegal use of our product.

I used to use your software for simracing purposes – race07 sim which is Simbin product. Regarding the post on your forum viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1298&p=5965&hilit=rfactor#p5965 this is completely legal because Simbin itself has a license and data acquisition and log creating functionality is a direct part of their software.

Now I’m transiting to rFactor2 sim platform which is ISI corp. brand and they don’t have the license. But still I’m interested in using your product because of the good experience.

So is it possible to buy my own personal license for using your software with this or any other sim? How and how much?

MoTeC as a business have had a look at getting involved with the gaming industry to allow the use of i2 with their applications. We have been approached by most simulation game developers during their development at one point or another.

we did initially decided to allow the use of i2 with Simbin, and they were good guys to deal with and it all went well.

Unfortunately, many hackers decided to take i2 and use it for free with other games, which led to a few of the cheaper dash logger suppliers starting to use i2 with their hardware illegally.

Due to the problems we have had with our gaming experience, and the work required to make a 'safe' version of i2 for use with games, the business has decided not to allow any more games to be used with i2.

If we were to grant people a license to use i2, we would also have to support them by answering questions, and fixing items that do not work correctly. We don't have the resources to do this at present.

as such, we cannot offer a personal license for this use.

Still many doubts: hackers will use your soft further, because of its quality. Also your unfair competitors, because it is their advantage, they can do that and they are unfair. You cut your income and dissatisfy potential new customers/whole new market. Probably forcing/motivate them to illegal use (not my case). The problem of expensive customer support can be resolved by proper license agreement (some kind of limitation).

But I don't want to dispute, it's your choice, of course and sure there are many serious reasons. I will look for a substitution.
Take it only as a signal from the market for your future biz decisions. I wish you all good.
