Throttle Blipper-Please help!!

Postby ADOFLY on Fri Jun 25, 2010 12:23 am

I want to install a throttle blipper to work on down shifts with my sequential gearbox, but no paddle shift. The throttle is cable operated.

What options do I have?

I suppose I have to find an electrical solenoid strong and fast enough to be able to push the throttle...any information will help!!!

I have read some threats in here but nobody suggest a good solution....

Hi ADOFLY,
For the trouble and expense of getting a solenoid, fitting it up and calibrating it to work and make sure it does not foul up your cable you may as well put a DBW throttle on it and then reap the multiple benefits. What you want to do is way too old school, the DBW can add a ton of flexibility to the whole project.

Yes. the DBW was my first choice ofcourse, I can easily find a DBW throttle but I just could not find the rest of the parts and since I have a three pedal floor mounted pedal box I straggled to find any information on how to make it work.

So if there is any information on DBW installation with a pedalbox, I would very much appreciate it.

I too have looked into this and DBW seems the way to go, what I would like to know is there any solution for those of us running multi throttle bodies setups with linkages etc to fit an aftermarket system so we can reap the rewards of DBW like the OEM setups ? I dont want to re engineer a complete intake manifold and airbox just to run it.

It is much easier than what you think to convert.

Honda does make a remote mount APP Sensor driven by throttle cable.

Motec does have support doc to help you to wire up.

I had a look into this Honda unit, basically it is the right thing the wrong way around. It would be more beneficial for the throttle cable to be actuating between the DBW unit and throttle bodies and have a sensor on the pedal. that way you can keep the throttle bodies original setup and just adapt a cable to it from the DBW unit.
Anyway I will keep looking for a good solution.
