Ginetta with M800 MDD and BR2 Laptime

Postby stilotto on Fri May 28, 2010 6:45 am

Hi @all!
This week called me a racing team with a Ginetta.
I have a problem maybe somebody can help me!
They have a problem with the laptime.
In the pit then we test it then is the laptime on the MDD.
Then we drive on the track and passing the BTX then is on the MDD the message "BR2 fault".

I this correct the MDD with BR2 is connected over can and the M800 is not looging the laptime??

Have sombody a answere?

Thanks

Otto,
where are you seeing the message "BR2 Fault?"

I cant seem to find any where that that message would be displayed.

what is your wiring configuration? are you using CAN or Switch output?

Hi!

The fault error is now ok! (MDD DASH)

I think we have a problem on the BR2.

The problem we have no info from ginetta.
No wiring diagram and no configurations from the ecu!

I have see in the configuration from the BR2 it was switched output put the cable on the BR2 is CAN configuration.
We have change this put everytime the same.

In the pit when we test we have the correct time on the Dash (MDD) and also loged in the ECU (M800).

On the track no time!
I think this is about the distance from the transmitter to the beacon in the pit it work only 12m.

thanks

Hi!

Ich have now the config!

System
Dash: MDD
Beacon: BR2
ECU: M800 V3.4

Beacon Configuration
Use Can Bus
Advanced configuration enable
Settings: MODE 5 ID 50

ECU Configuration

CAN Setup
BR2 LAP Beacon ID : 10000
CAN 2 Data : 6
CAN 2 Address: 229

Logging Setup Lap/Beacon
Lap Distance: 5
Beacon: 5

In the pit we have test it.
Time on the MDD – Dash is OK
Logging in the ECU NO
I have make in the ECU Manager Software a Chart Record.. with the channel Beacon and Beacon Mark for testing. Now we can see when the BR2 Beacon see the Transmitter (Mode 5 ID 50) then the Beacon line is going down an up. The Beacon Mark line is only straight . When we start the engine is the same and there is no laptime in the log file.

What wrong do I make??

Regards
Otto

Hello Otto,

Does all of the data from the ECU appear on the MDD screen ok?

Can you email me some logged data from some recent running where laptimes were shown on the MDD but do not appear in the log file, my email address is nathan.skinner@moteceurope.co.uk.

Could you also tell me what version of i2 you are using.

Surely ECU Lap Beacon ID should be 550 not 10000

When using the BR2 with an MDD the lap Beacon ID needs to be configured in the BR2 using the Advanced Configuration option, this causes the ID that is sent on the CAN bus from the BR2 to be changed to 10000.
