M400 and DBW throttle in Toyota 2ZZ engine (Lotus ExigeS).

Postby Jaremi JKR on Thu Jun 10, 2010 9:18 pm

Hello
I need some help in setup of DBW throttle in Toyota 2ZZ engine in Lotus ExigeS.
I am using M400.
DBW has 5 connectors: M+, M-, TP1, TP2, 0V and 5V.
TP1, TP2, 0V and 5V work fine.
I connected M+ to power and it is the only way it works.
M- is connected to MOTEC AV1 using function "DBW".

Accelerator pedal works fine - I can calibrate it (TPD1 and TPD2) as well as TP1 and TP2 on throttle body.

The problem is how to configure Motec to move throttle as I press accelerator pedal?
I can move throttle in "test outputs" mode. When I differ dutycycle from 10-20% I can open and close throttle "by wire".
I do not know what to put in Motec config and where to put it to make the throttle react on accelerator pedal. I tried to contact distributor, but it is hard to get anything.

Second problem is idle. As my throttle body does not have special connector for idle control. How to wire it to AV2 (it can be configured as DBW - idle control)?

Thanks in advance.

Shouldn't M+ be connected to AUX1 (mode #5) and M- be connected to AUX2
(or the other way around if the throttle is reversed)

You then enable DBW Idle control on AUX2 as mode #6 and enter your PID numbers in the idle control section.

It was how I have wired it initially. It did not work even in "test output" mode. There was no way to move throttle. Then I thought M+ is power and M- is ground so according to M400 wiring diagram I connected power to M+ and AV1 (function 5 = DBW) to M-.
This way I can move throttle in "test output" mode.
All the parameters under Adjust->Functions->DriveByWire->Setup are probably default:
Proportional Gain = 0
Integral Gain = 0
Derivative gain = 0
Period = 2
Dead Band = 0,2
Feed Forward = 0
Negative integral Clamp = 0,0
Frequency = 500
Motor Volts = 12
Comp method = 0
Fail-Safe RPM limit = 3000
Feedback source = 0

If I change proportional gain or integral Gain, the throttle moves quickly once or twice then it closes and never reacts to pedal.

By the way, throttle number is 22030-22030 and it is Toyota motor used also in Corolla TS and Celica 1,8VVTiL.

M+ and M- should be connected to Aux1 and Aux 2 as IJ posted.

You then must get all the PID parameters and DBW enable for the ECU from your dealer.

It is important that it is done this way and passed by your dealer.
