SDL and SLM

Postby figgie on Fri Jul 18, 2008 7:32 am

Question

is there anyway to implement the features that are in the ADL2 into the SDL software/ for the SLM control or is the SDL harware limited in doing that?

Specifically the flashing on certain conditions. This would help in a street car to use the SLM as an indicator of sorts.

IE

Right turn, left turn and high beam useage ontop of shift light useage and alarms also.

Yep, that makes sense, will put a request in...

In the mean time, you can do it already, it is just a little fiddly.

Basically,

*set up a Timer into a GP time(1 second) channel.
*Make an activate/deactivate condition that turns on each time the above channel is updated
*make the same condition turn on after the output channel is true or .3 of a second (change this to set the on/off time
Set a GP on/off channel as the output channel
Make a condition in the slm setup that says, put this shift light output on when the GP on/off is true.

I just tested that and it works fine. Here is the config.

Are there plans to update the ADL-1 (original) with the SLM capability?

There are currently no plans to update ADL software for SLM use, although you can use one if you wish anyhow, it is just a bit more fiddly. Attached is a document outlining the procedure.

Hi MoteC

Thought I would dig this from the grave.

Any status if the SDL is going to support flashing SLM condtions? Most needed would be 4 conditions.....

this has been added into SDl3, but I don't know if it is going to be ported back into SDL...

What are the differences going to be ? Is there an upgrade for the SDL to get it to SDl3 trim ?

Hi Killerbee,

New features include up to 120Mb logging, 2 CAN busses, ethernet PC comms, 3 axis g sensor and some of the software restrictions lifted like ADL3 type SLM setup.

The SDL3 is completly new hardware and processor, the only things that are common from SDL to SDL3 are the case, display and connector, so not much chance of updating.

Cheers,
