If it still happens then I'd suggest switching to a synthetic oil like Klotz Techniplate, not the Super Techniplate though as that contains 20% castor oil, and will still produce the varnish.

Interesting stuff, goo contamination makes more sense to me as they certainly don't seem to be effected by the fairly acidic fall out from E85 in a couple of applications I have them in.

It is odd that you've got contaminates as far up as the snubber though, how long is the pipe run from the snubber to the main exhaust?

They are about 2ft, maybe 3ft. The weird thing is the snubbers looked perfectly clean they just wouldn't pass air.

I added piston snubbers from no-shock and the sensors have been working great since.

Hi Guys,
Looks like I have found a group of pros here.
I am still not very clear about exhaust back pressure.

Can someone please explain to me what kind of healthy
back pressure
numbers should I be looking at ?

1) On a NA engine before collector?
2) On a turbo engine before turbo?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks and best regards
Ricky
