SDL logging password

As far as I can tell I have already purchased all the hardware and the software required for logging when I purchased the dash. It came with Sport Dash Manager, i2 Pro, and some telemitry programs. If only that software had logging capability. So from what I can tell all the $2k (NZD) gets me is a 10 digit code that will enable the dash to do the logging.

If I had that money I would just pay the $2k for the logging enable code, but at the moment it'll be atleast another 6 months before I can afford it.

If I purchased a telemitry unit so that may car can be monitored from the pits and displayed live on a laptop, is there anyway that that laptop can log the data as well as just displaying it? All the hardware capability will be there, so all I'd need would be a program that logs the data sent to the laptop.

When we sell our SDL, it can come either as a display only item (as a replacement for gauges for instance) or as a data logger. We sell it this way to make buying the display cheaper for those people who don't have a need for data logging, so we don't charge them for it.

I do understand that the RRP of $1375 (AUD) seems quit high, but it isnt the hardware that you are paying for here. What you are paying for is access to the i2 software, which a display only unit cannot use. the i2 software took MoTeC about 3 years to write, and is renown as one of the best motorsport data logging analysis applications in the world. We have to charge for this software, as it pays for the years of development that have gone into producing it, as well as the ongoing development of i2 that we do each day.

The SDL doesn't have a telemetry upgrade feature, as it is considered a club/mid level product, where generally across the world, telemetry is not allowed. To answer your question though, you can 'save' telemetry data into LD files, using the remote logging upgrade.

Thanks for the info. I don't doubt its ability, which is why I chose a MoTeC dash. I guess I'm just a little disapointed I won't be able to afford the logging option before my first race with the new dash (just under a week from now).

Can I purchase the logging option direct from MoTeC rather than going through a local agent, as it will save me a few hundered $$$

It does not sound like the dealer you purchased your dash from was up front with the feature set or the costs of your dash. If you would would like to deal with another dealer in New Zealand, drop me a personal email or look up the contact details of Motorsport Electronics in the dealer section.

I am sorry that this wasn't obvious to you when you were deciding on the product. We do try to make our method and reasoning as clear as possible so that there is no confusion.

Feel free to shop around to make sure that you are getting the best value for money, as we have no influence over what a dealer's end price will be.

I have a similar problem here in the UK, my tuner can see the lambda readings on both sensors no problem but it is not logging the data throughout the run, will i also need to go to a MOTEC dealer and have the loggin enbaled password and pay the money??
It is for a M800 Pro ecu.

I would say that that is most likely. MoTeC ECU's do come with an amount of free logging time, to ensure that you can setup your engine correctly, and if you want to continue to use the logging feature, you can just buy the upgrade.

You may already have it, but it is not setup correctly. To find this out, send your ECU details (mainly serial number) to your local MoTeC representative, and he can check this out for you...

I have been in touch with MOTEC europe and i will send them the serial No. of the MOTEC unit tomorrow to confirm what is enabled, so hopefully i will have all the info i need soon and finally get the car tuned ready to race at the end of this month!

If you get the remote logging upgrade, can you convert previously saved image files?

no, you can only convert files that have been created since the option was enabled, as they are written in a different format.
