Twin Rotor Coil Setup

Postby TPM on Mon Nov 23, 2009 9:28 pm

Hi guys just looking for some help here!!!! We have a 13B Bridgeport engine in circuit car currently using Motec M4 Pro fully enabled. My question relates to coil numbers in general setup, the help function clearly states that you must enter in the table the amount of coils/ignition outputs directly controlled by ECU. In our case we are using all 3, 1 for both leading coils and the remaining 2 for both trailing coils as per wiring diagram. It makes perfectly good sense so far however when looking at technical drawing it states 1 should be entered for coil setup contradicting exactly what the help function states?????? So which number is correct??? We use 4xHEC715 coils and 2x200 dual trigger Bosch modules.Would also like to understand how this could possibly influence Rotary timing split. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!!
cheers Tim

Hi Tim,

The number of coils you say the engine has is not used for special rotary modes 102 and 103. However it needs to be set according to the drawing for compatibility incase you are not running the latest version firmware.
Just set the number of coils to 1 and wire per the drawing.

Sorry for the confusion, this is a special case where the help for the number of coils is incorrect.
