SLM - SDL - SM4 - Config

Postby bazeng on Sun Nov 08, 2009 8:52 am

Hi guys.

Just confirming that all I have to set on the DASH software what is stated in the document?

No need to add a CAN device etc?

Also, when previewing the lights in the software, should it be showing on the SLM itself?

It doesn't look look my SLM is working.
Just troubleshooting.
Will be checking pinouts now.

Also with the SM4, do I obtain all the inputs off the ECU or DATASTREAM inputs?

I'd be more specific with the naming of the inputs / options but the software is on my other laptop which is flat..

Thanks in advance..

To check the SLM set up a shift light condition to 0 rpm and send it to the dash, the SLM should light up.

You don't do live edits like the ECU and everything needs to be sent to the dash before it will "work".

Also check the CAN wires into the SLM I tried mine from the pinout you posted in the other thread and it didn't work till I swapped Green/White.

All info is sent prior to testing.

As for SLM, I did setup for all lights to come up at 0rpm and nothing.

I'll try and swap the CAN HI/ LOW.

Sorry didn't mean to sound condecending, been caught by this a couple of times even though I know it's not live so just thought I'd mention it just in case.

Hopefully it's just the CAN wires.

All CAN busses, regardless of their length require at least 1 terminating resistor

no term resistor - No work.

As a general rule, none of our products have the term resistors built in, as you could then end up with too many resistors.

Thanks Jamie,

It is now working.
There were 2 problems.

1 - no resistor.
2 - relay stuffed up on me.

The pinouts are exactly as detailed in the wiring diagram. Just follow the back of the plug provided with the SLM.
