SLM pre terminated plug - pinouts

Postby bazeng on Mon Nov 02, 2009 12:15 pm

Hi guys,

Can I please have the pre-terminated plug pinout?

I need to wire it the SDL and only have a wire colour pinout, not plug pinout. I cant see the colours unless I open it up and buzz it out, which I can't really be bothered to do..

Thanks guys...

Also, Can I use 8 +ve / -ve from the CAN BUS plug otherwise I'll run a 12v+ve to a seperate relay activated via IGN.

Yes,

I need to know which pin is which for:

Connector
DTM 4 pin male
Mating connector DTM 4 pin #68054

Is pin 1 on the top left looking at the front of the plug (pin side) etc etc.

Awesome.
Thats what I need!

I just noticed that the other unused plug has little numbers on them.
The preterminated plug has been heat shunk so the pin numbers are not visable.

For future reference

Ok,

A big thanks to Phil.M from Motec.

He terminated the pins for me in the plug (the tool is very expensive!!!)

Now the 12v+ and Gnd must come from a seperate power source ie relay.

Great support guys!

Ok,

SLM seriously doesn't want to work.

Unless there is a software issue (configuration), I don't know why its not working.

Could the cable be too long?
Does it need a terminating resistor?

The total length of the cable is about 750mm from SLM to SDL.

I've set the conditions to activate with anything under 10psi of oil pressure which the sensor is reading 0.xx psi, and nothing.

I've tried swapping the green and yellow but that didn't help.

I pulled the cover off the SLM and couldn't buzz out the cables.

I considered stripping a bit of the tefzel wire to buzz it out with the multimetre but didn't want to lose warranty.

How do we go about putting a terminating resistor on the CAN line?
Also what resistance is recommended?

Resistors must be 100 or 120 ohm.

SLM is very sensitive on unterminated CAN Bus. You have to terminate bus on both sides.

Try to connect UTC and set up communication with SDL first. Then connect SLM and start to play with it without removing UTC.
If only SLM and SDL are connected to CAN bus... SDL is trying to send data to the SLM which fail to receive data and send acknowledge back to the SDL. After 256 attempts it has to go in an forced offline state by CAN protocol rules. It will wake again if a train of legal data messages will be received in to the SDL. But SLM is listener device only and it will never happened. When UTC is connected then UTC will send acknowledge to SDL and it will stay online. So it is much easier to debug CAN bus with at least two working devices connected.

Mazi,

I am communicating to the SDL via USB.
The SLM is connected to the SDL via CAN.

I solder 2 resistors today to see if it fixes it.

Thanks for the input.

Just confirming that I do not need to add any CAN device in the communication option?
Its just that I do not see SLM in the CAN listings.

The only options for the SLM is under the Shift Light Module option, so I am assuming that it is pretty much an autodetect type device?

And once again confirming, if I preview the lights on the PC software via the SDL, I should also see this on the SLM?
