Just for those who are interested, this is a Toyota 2ZZ with SKM fitted.

The second graph is low boost setting
The first graph is where the wastegate actuator pipe was not on the wastegate anymore

Turbo is a GT35

Martin: Did it survive?

What was the strategy in place? ie: How much timing pulled for xx knock and so on?

Yes it did survive.

I set the max retard to 10Deg....10 is clearly not enough to get it to stop rattling. Ill need to make some changes.

Retard gain is set to 0,5......0,5Deg reatrd for each percent over the threshold.

Knock table 27% at 6000RPM....so with 0,5gain its an instantanious retard of 10degs at anyting over 47%, so if I allowed more retard It could have retarted a massive 36,5degs with 100% levels with the gain set to 0,5

Just to clarify,,,,,with the 10 retard it was running after TDC and still knocking. Almost like an EVO :)

Thanks for the info Martin!

Wonder if there's a way to set the RPM limiter to catch it if it runs away like that?

I guess with more range it wouldn't be needed, I just like having a self preservation mode.

It didnt run away...the limiter is only at 8000.

If you want to catch it in a event like this I think using the Long term knock trim to do a DBW reduction trim.
The Long term trim is slower but more stable so suitable for a DBW trim.
