Mazda RX8

Postby Martin on Fri Oct 02, 2009 9:00 pm

Im busy with a street RX8, everyting stock except a supercharger fitted with intercooler.

APV (Auxiliary port valve)
1.Is the servo upgrade needed to drive the APV?

OMP
2. Is it advisable to run a OMP on a charged RX8? Is the pumps flow suffiecient?
3. How is the oil flow calculated for a certain application
4. In the Motec OMP setup.........
127 : Mazda RX8 APV Servo
Controls the Mazda RX8 Auxiliary Port Valve.
Aux 5,6 or 7 only, also uses next output (requires high side drive)

Mazda RX8 OMP:
The table specifies the desired Oil Metering Pump position.
The table units are Steps.
The duty for the output (normally "Aux Out5 Duty Cycle") is the actual
position (in steps), the duty for the next output (normally "Aux Out6
Duty Cycle") is the aim position (steps).

Can somebody please shed some more light on what the underlined part means? How could the outputs duty refer to the aim position and the output duty of the other the actual position?

Has anybody ever done a OEM setup but with a charger like this?

Thanks
M

You do not need the Servo Control upgrade to run the APV. The feedback sensor is only used for diagnostic purposes.

The output is a stepper position output rather than a duty cycle output. The Aim Position is set up in the Auxiliary Table for the second of the 2 outputs used for the function (e.g. AUX 6). To monitor the actual position you need to look at the position of the first output (AUX5). This allows you to look at both aim and actual position.

I do not have any information relating to the flow capacity of the Oil Metering Pump or any experience of its suitability on a supercharged engine.

I will send you some additional information by e-mail.

Ross,

"The output is a stepper position".....are you refering to the Dutycycle channel of the particular output BUT instead of the channel showing the DC it shows position or the aim of the stepper depinding if you are looking at Aux5 or Aux6?
