Dont you need the 0v to go to the UTC aswell?

Hi Martin,

No it's not necessary to have the 0v since CAN bus uses differential voltages in the two wires.
I usually don't connect it and never have problems, however it is always better to connect the 0v just incase there is a voltage offset between CAN nodes. I'm just not sure how important it is, if at all.

Glad to hear the comms issues are resolved!

I am having a similar issue with disconnects of the ECU only while the car is running.

What USB brand/cable did you guys find that worked?

I was given a Belkin 6ft cable along with my UTC and it obviously isn't doing the job.

I was able to resolve my issue by purchasing 3ft USB cable from Radio Shack. Amazing the difference the cable length makes!

Don't worry it happens to me to when testing ignition systems on the bench, I have a lot of high energy stuff really close. My fix is to use a CAN extension and get the USB cable as far away as possible from the spark plugs.
