ECU to ADL Hi Speed CAN Data

Postby JayDee on Thu Jul 10, 2008 7:43 pm

Hi,
Using the standard M800 to ADL data set an update rate of the around 50Hz can be expected at the ADL.

However by using the M800 custom data sets the ECU can transmit at a rate of 200Hz ( Actually nearer an average of 166Hz as measured using CANalyzer ).
However over a year ago there was a change to Dash Manager that stopped inappropriate logging rates being selected for certain channels, this is usful in the main...

However all of the engine related channels (within Later versions of DM ) are restricted to a maximum logging rate of 100Hz. So I cannont select a higher logging rate and take advantage of the higher rate at which my specified ECU channels are being transmitted. Is there a work around or future change to enable this? :?
Cheers, John.

It should not make a difference as the loggin rate is still 50 hz :)

TBTW for some clarification

when you mention Hi Speed CAN Data. You are actually talking about the physical speed of the databus which just happens to be 1 Mb/s. :)

Hi,
This is an issue that has been going for some time, the point is that the ECU will tansmit at a higher rate than the DM software will currently allow you to log. Whilst you can log engine items at 200Hz in the ECU, it is conveniant to have all of the logged channels in a single log file for problem analysis.
My reference to Hi speed CAN data was unwisely vauge, since as you stated the term Hi Speed CAN generally reffers to a Specific CAN standard that deals with bit rates between about 250Kbit/sec and 1Mbit.
Cheers, John.

Ok, now have an answer on this one. It is a bug, and has been fixed in the latest beta version that we are testing for ACL manager. ADL2 will soon recieve the fix for this also.
