DBW and 2 lambda sensors. Possible?

Postby Polux RSV on Mon Jun 22, 2009 6:15 am

I am bulding a harness for a bike. it will use 2 lambda sensors. And DBW as a future option.
As DBW could only be driven on aux1-aux2 outputs, I could not connect the lambda heaters. Can I connect them on another aux outputs ? If yes, wich one?
Could I use an ign output using an external FET power transistor ?

Thanks.

The reason we recommend AUX 1 and AUX 2 for lambda heaters is because of the current draw from the heaters. You can use other outputs and they should work ok. The problems you are likely to have (if any) are when you do an air calibration on a cold sensor or if you try to run the sensot in Fast Heat mode from cold. When the sensor is cold the heater draws a little bit more current than when it is hot which can exceed the maximum current for the output. Once the sensor has warmed up it will work ok. If you need to do an air calibration and the output shuts down (C5 Error) you can warm the sensor up for a minute with a hot air gun and it will air calibrate ok. You can use any of the outputs but given the choice I would use an un-used Injector output if one is available.

Wont an injector trip the short alarm? Will it continue functioning after the short alarm?

Yes it will flag an injector alarm but this will not stop it functrioning. We use Injector outputs to run lambda heaters on M800 Plug in ECUs on Subarus.
