I'm working on several different options. I will post any update of a successful setup...

Some of the RC servo motors have enough power to break your fingers off ! They certainly would be responsive enough. But I like the idea of the boot release solenoid, can you elaborate on what conditions you use to 'fire' the solenoid for downshifts ? I presume you set up a user generated table with several input channels ?

Drive by wire blipping is as easy as falling out of a tree. Its also very configureable and the first choice.
The problem is when you done have DBW, what are your options?

I didnt know that Servos were that strong. If you just want to drive a servo one way for blipping you dont need a servo upgrade, you would just run the servo up in one direction. Would it be possible for the servo to return under throttle spring?

Ive used an ADL, SDL to drive the blipper. I set up a tables to look at clutch pressure, brake pressure, and throttle position. Only when the clutch is disengaged, the brakes have more that 5bar pressure (thats barely touching it) and the driver is off the throttle, will the dash start a timer. Then I tell the solenoid to be active when timer is between 0.05s (50ms from timer start) and 0,15s (150ms from timer start). This way you can set the delay for the blipper and you can also set the time its blips for. You can also set up a table to look up a blip time value for different RPMs. I also disable the output if the RPM is too high to prevent overrev from the blip. As you can see theres a lot of checks done to make sure it only blips at the right time and when needed. You can also replace hydraulic pressure sensors with switches but youll have to get them to switch at the right time.

Out of interest what psi pressure sensors are you running ? 2000psi for brake ? Clutch pressure ?

2000Psi for brake, but im also using other make sensors that take a DT04 Connector that has a range of up
to 32000Psi :) 2000Psi`s Max out if a driver get anxious..... for example just before impact :)

Clutch pressure im Using an OEM porsche sensor but on the clutch system I only measure 39bar pedal fully in,,,,and about 45 bar as the clutch goes thru its centre.

VVT Solenoids sounds like a great Idea...but how much travel do you have? What make car`s is it?

It has about 0.30" which is more than enough to drive the throttle blip. I had to make some modifications to put it near the throttle body. Belive me I have tested many different solenoids and this one I can tell that for sure works. I will post pics later...
