Nissan QR20/25 REF/SYNC setup?

Postby Shiggy on Mon Jun 15, 2009 7:49 pm

We are going to setup M800 on Nissan QR25DE engine.

I just wanted to know if someone has REF/SYNC setup on this engine.
Is it same as CR**DE?

seems like I need to find all by myself, DBW moror, CAM control etc.. as well as REF/SYNC.

If someone can help me out to solve this, it is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I don't believe we have ran this engine before.

If you can connect the m800 to the ref and sync sensors and do a ref/sync capture then send the capture to me, i can tell you if we have a ref/sync mode for it. Nissan are usually pretty good at keeping things the same.

Also can you tell me the part number (or all numbers) on the DBW throttle and i'll see if that crosses with any we have characterised.

Cheers,

OK, I will post REF/SYNC capture and DBW part# once I get the car.
Hope it is something similar to other engine.

What I need to find out if you don't have proper ref/sync mode and DBW setup to use?

Cheers

If we don't have the ref/sync mode, it realy depends on how different it is to something else we have as to how we go about getting it working.
And if we haven't seen the DBW motor, it (and accelerator pedel) will need to be given to your local dealer to be sent here to MoTeC to be characterised.

Hello,

We just got car, here attached picture is part code on DBW throttle body.
I'm now checking nissan part# and REF/SYNC capture as well.

I've not captured the REF/SYNC signal though, I've found the signal figure in the service manual,
does this help you out to find out if you have any information, Darren?

The graph saying, crank angle, sync signal, ref signal from the top.
Both REF/SYNC is hall type sensor and sensor power/output signal is 0-5V.
(signal normally outputs 5V, become 0.5V when tooth comes close)
SYNC is also used for CAM position.

seems like REF teeth is 36, two missing teeth 4 times per cycle.
Firing order is 1-3-4-2, SYNC teeth seem representing cyl number
(cyl1=1 tooth (no additional), cyl2=2 teeth(one additional) ...)
How should I setup the REF/SYNC setup as well as CAM position setup?
Will REF/SYNC mode 9 work for this? or can I use OEM mode 42 perhaps?

Just find REF/SYNC diagram for CR**DE.
QR25 Hall sensor outputs seem opposite to CR,
then SYNC signal position to REF (and also REF/SYNC signal position to TDC's) is different.
Though REF/SYNC teeth seem identical.

I still can't capture the signal using M800 because the unit is still in use for other engine dyno.
Hope these diagram help.

Hi Shiggy,

Yes i can confirm this is ref/sync Mode 42, the same as a CR engine, so no problem there.

And we have not ran this DBW motor before, so it will need to be given to your local Motec dealer to be sent here to be charactrised.

Thanks Darren,

So what I need to do for REF/SYNC is,

Set REF/SYNC mode to 42
Set trigger edge polarity to RISE for both REF and SYNC
Set CRIP to adjust index position

That's it?

For DBW, how long time period should I expect for you to characterise the DBW motor, if I send it now on?
This new project is time limited, need to start up by later July.
If you think it takes very long time, I need to use any other known nissan DBW throttle body while you are working on.
