SDC2 - M800OEM WRX78 commucation error

Postby chiraoka on Fri Jun 05, 2009 4:37 pm

We have bought a SDC2 and are experiencing some problems.

When I am connected to the SDC2 and go to ''monitor Channels'' the TPS works correctly, when I select the different modes on the diff thumbwheel I can read them on the PC, but when I pull the handbrake the PARK BRAKE channel remains unchanged but the diff display lights on the dash board inmediatly change from mode 1,2,3,4 to unlocked (first green light), showing the diff unlocked (goes to the first green, guess it must be working) ..... ?????

Since the car we are working with is a late GDB SPEC C, it didn't came from the factory with ABS. Therefore I had been using the gearbox speed sensor to have a ground speed on the M800 OEM (which works correctly and is currently been logged), but when I try to read on the SDC2 via "monitor channels" i get no speed readings. I have done the following:

On the SDC2:

Set INPUT SETUP / SPEED : ECU GROUND SPEED

and have done all of the following on the M800OEM:

- Set Slip Source to L&R Ground Speed vs L&R Drive Speed under Adjust/Functions/Traction Control/Setup
- Digital 1 has been set as a speed input under Adjust / Digital Input Functions
- Both LG Spd and RG Spd speed channels are taken from Dig1
- Set Telemetry Data Rate on the M800OEM to 3841 and Telemetry Data Set to 6 (SDC)

At first I thought that there was a problem with the RS232 communication cable between the SDC2 and the M800OEM, so I checked for continuity on both ends of the cable and it was ok, on the SDC2 Connector Pinout it was on the A9 position and on the M800OEM Connector Pinout it was on the A21 position (a green / black wire).
I think that I should be able to monitor online the speed when I am connected to the SDC2 right ?

Hope that you can help me out.

Have you checked to see if Ground Speed is being generated in the ECU? Have you set up the speed inputs in Sensors/Input Setup? Are your SDC2 channels working in the ECU? If they aren't you could check the Link setup. Link 12 and Link13 should be closed (default setting)

Yes the ground speed is being generated in the ECU. This is currently been logged.
Will check links 12 and 13 tomorrow, still Tuesday over here.

Is your car for competition?
If yes, I would wire the wheel speed sensors directly to SDC. These speed channels will then be sent to M800 and used for traction control.

Dragon thanx for your reply. The problem is that this is a competition car, and being a SPEC C it has no wheel speed sensors therefore no ABS. The only way to read speed is from the speed sensor in the gearbox.
