Inserting beacon in data

Hello
Last test we forgot the beacon in the workshop and only we were testing! So now I want to add the beacon in the data!
Can't use the lap edit automatic beacon (distance based) as the data is a continuos line over time, with laps and fire ups, so distances varie! So how does the insert beacon tool work? How do I put one in? I've tried and only thing I get is a lap of 0:00.000!
...I'm just switching from wintax to motec, so a few dumb questions might come up...

Hi Joao,

You can insert a beacon simply by placing the cursor on the time/distance graph in the exact place you want the beacon, then go to the menu 'Data|Insert Beacon' or press Shift+F7.
You can then edit or remove becons using the Lap Editor in the Tools menu.
Just be sure you are using a 'Circuit' project as beacons are handled differently in different project types.

Another beacon question...how do I change the beacon channel? I've spoke with a few other teams and they have their beacon on "different frequencies/channels" how do I change the frequency the receiver triggers a lap?

If you remove the cover on the beacon transmitter (BTX) you will see 3 rotary switches marked Mode, Tens and Units. This is the ID for your beacon.
If you have the older long skinny beacon receiver, a BRX, then it also has 3 rotary switches inside which you set to the same as the transmitter.
If you have the newer BR2 beacon receiver then it depends on how it is connected to the logging device. If it is connected via CAN then the mode and ID is set in the logging device - hundred series ECU is under CAN Setup, or ADL dash in the Lap Time and Number setup. If it is connected to a digital input (switched mode) then the Mode and ID are set in the BR2 using the BR2 Configuration Utility (which you should have on your laptop) and connect your laptop to the BR2 with a UTC or CAN cable.
