M800 questions

Hi,

I'm about to buy motec M800 PnP for the Subaru 07 Euro version STi. I'm using stock ecu with ecutek right now but I find that ecutek has limitations because of the MAF sensor. My stock ecu "ID ornumber" is am500-4900. These are my few questions:

1. Will the immobilizer still work with motec? If yes, will the motec ecu recognize my key? Do I need to give my VIN number to the dealer before buying the motec?

2. Will the OBD2 still function so that the subaru diagnostic pc can read the stock sensor etc?

3. Can the motec read the STi's stock sensors like the G sensor, fuel pressure, etc? I just found those info about the stock sensors that the stock ecu can read here

4. Can the M800 PnP be used to control NOS and water meth injection system or do I have to use another motec product like the E888 to be able to control it?

Hello James,
The immobiliser will not have full functionality, it will not immobilise the ECU as it does on the factory unit.
OBD2 will not function but the M800 has its own diagnostic system which will allow diagnostics for all of the engine sensors.
The MoTeC ECU can read all of the sensors that are connected to the standard ECU. The G-sensor is not connected to the ECU but is connected to the Differential Controller. This can be read and logged if you have a MoTeC SDC installed.
You COuld control your NOS with the M800 but this would require some wiring modifications.

I have a few more questions, I hope you don't mind :)

1. How many extra input and output signal does the M800 PnP have for my car?

2. Can I connect E888 to the M800 PnP to datalog and use the PWM output to control meth kits, NOS, 2nd walbro fuel pump or other external fuel pumps, etc, and to connect sensors like EGT, oil temp, oil pressure, etc and be able to datalog it along with the engine parameters like rpm, boost etc?

3. I can't find the SDC in your catalog, I don't have any idea how much it costs, I'm having problems with my DCCD and differential when I'm driving my car on parking lot ramps, slow and twisting turns, it's like my differential is binding even if I put it on full open, I'm thinking if the motec SDC can be used to control the DCCD even more to lessen the binding effects of the differentials.

I am assuming that this is a 2.5 litre car with variable inlet cams only?

There are not many spare inputs available but there are 2 AT inputs which could be used (AT5 and AT6). By default these are set up for Power Steering Switch and Brake Light Switch but the wiring could be modified if you wanted to use them as AT inputs or Switched inputs.
As far as outputs are concerned you can use AUX6 which is spare and AUX5 which is connected to the Canister Purge Solenoid could be used with a wiring change.
An E888 can be used to add extra inputs but not for outputs. This is because when you connect an E888 to an M800 to use the outputs you cannot use the alternative Injector Output functionality of the M800, the M800 Plug-in uses these for Boost Control, Lambda Heater, Cooling Fans and A/C Clutch control.
You will need to contasct a dealer for the price of an SDC2. You can download the software from our web site, the software also contains the SDC2 Manual. I cannot confirm that it will fix your binding problem though and would recommend that you get this checked out as it may be a mechanical problem rather than an electronic problem.

Yes my engine is a 2.5L with variable cam at the inlet side only.
I think re wiring something from my ecu/M800 is not so easy for me to do at this point, so I'll just use my meth controller for the meth pump and just use a NOS controller too when I decided I'll put a kit :)

I'll have my diff checked out first, and maybe try to change the gear oil. I'm already using synthetic gear oil, since I replaced my stock gear oil it has improved a lot, but sometimes on slow turns it still binds.

Hi guys,

I just got my M800 PnP today, I'm very happy with it :D

I got a few more questions

1. I bought 4 bar MAP sensor from motec, and I also bought a wire loom, however I don't know how to connect it to my oem wiring that connects to the stock MAP sensor, I attached a pic of the stock sensor, I don't know which wire goes to where

All I know is that the sensor has ground input, 5V input and output signal

What I'm thinking is try to figure out the color of the wires of the oem MAP sensor, then maybe put a volt meter to identify where the ground, %V supply and signal wire.

2. Second problem is the intake air temp sensor. I don't know where to connect the 2 wires from the sensor going to the OEM MAF sensor wiring since the MAF sensor has 5 wires. All I know with the 5 wires is that 2 wires are for the built in air temp sensor, and the other 3 wires are ground, 5V supply and signal wire of 0-5V for the MAF sensor. So what I need to know or do is isolate the 2 wires for the IAT senson that is embedded to the MAF sensor and identify which wire of the new intake air temp goes to where.

and air temp the first 2 wire on the left green-red and brown

I saw this in another forum, just making sure i'll get the 2 wires for IAT sensor correctly :)

This is correct.

For the MAP sensor the OEM Wiring is:
1. MAP signal (Orange)
2. 0 Volt (Black)
3. 5 Volt (Red)

If you haven't got the drawing for the sensor you need to download MoTeC Drawing # X30 which shows the orientation of the pins in the connector.
