Gear Indicator not working...

Postby 13cobra on Thu Aug 24, 2023 3:44 am

I have two Dash Config files.

8-14-23, the gear indicator is accurate and works.

8-22-23, the gear indicator does not work.

I need to be able to use the 8-22-23 file, naturally. What do I need to change on it to get the gear indicator to work?

I went into the Calculations > Gear Detection... The 8-14-23 shows:

Method: Sensor
Output Channel: Gear
Acceptance Delay: 0.00 seconds

Input Channel: Gear Pos Volts

0 = 2.44
1 = 1.79
2 = 1.14
3 = 0.48
4 = 4.99
5 = 4.39
6 = 3.73
7 = 0.00
8 = 3.08
9 = 0.00

The 8-22-23 config shows:

Method: Speed/RPM
Output Channel: Gear
Acceptance Delay: 0.00 seconds

Speed channel: Wheel Speed
Engine RPM channel: Engine RPM

I've gone in and changed the Method from Speed/RPM to Sensor, then select Gear for my Output Channel, and Gear Pos Volts for my Input channel. Then I input the sensor values to match...it shows the Gear Pos Volts as not assigned. I can select it, then when I hit "OK" it comes up with:

"Input channel uses the following channel:
Gear Pos Volts
This channel is not being generated. Do you want to change your selection?"

How do I fix this?

Thank you.

Fixed, thanks Motec!

It looks like you are on the right track, the piece you are missing is assigning the input for Gear Pos Volts. This can be done by going to the Inputs tab, then clicking on Input Pins. Then double clicking on the AV3 input channel will allow you to set AV3 to Gear Pos Volts and calibrate it setting 0 volts equal to 0 volts and 5 volts equal to 5 volts. Then you should be able to repeat the steps listed above and it should work.
