Kawasaki ZX6R '09

Postby Martin on Sat Apr 18, 2009 3:25 am

Hi,

Im starting a project on this bike but I need some info on it. Has anybody got some useful info maybe a start map?

As far as I know there is no Cam shaft (Sync) sensor. Apperently the Map sensor makes the ECU Sync by monitoring inlet pressure pulses!?

Thanks
M

Hi Martin,

I don't have a start file unfortunately but I do have some settings for the Ref/Sync setup as there is a new OEM mode in V3.51M software specifically for bikes that use the MAP sensor for syncing.

You need to connect the MAP sensor to the Sync input and ensure the vacuum pipe is connected to one cylinder only, you can then try the following settings:

Ref/Sync Mode: 65
Crank teeth: 24

Ref Sensor Type: 2 Mag
Ref Sensor Edge - dependent on your wiring
Ref Trigger Voltage: 0.0

Sync Sensor Type: 2 Mag
Sync Sensor Edge: 0 Fall
Sync Trigger Voltage: 3.5

Sync Mag Sensor Level Table: Use a single value of 0.3

Set filters etc as required.

You need to make sure the falling edge produced by the MAP sensor signal does not occur in the missing tooth gap, you can move this around by connecting it to different cylinders, and that the Run RPM (Adjust > General Setup > Miscellaneous) is set above the cranking RPM.

Thank you Nathan!

I guess I should read the Readme more often when I install new software. Do you have a customer thats running this bike? Maybe you can put us in contact with each other?

Correct me if im wrong...this mode only looks for a sync signal while its under the run rpm? Does this mean that if extra teeth is read on the ref signal (noise) that you would have to come down to cranking RPM to get it re-synced?

Nathan, or anybody else...
May I please have any high performance bike config pleasE? R1,R6, GsxR1000, GsxR600, ZX-R`s etc... ZX6R '09 would be my first choice ;)

Thanks

Hi Martin, you are correct about the sync signal, the ECU only looks for it when the engine is cranking ie under the run rpm so the engine effectively needs to be stopped to re-sync.

Based on this it is important to specify an appropriate run rpm, if set too low then it is possible that the ECU will think the engine is running before it sees a valid sync signal and the engine will not start. This can show up when using dyno systems to crank the engine as they often raise the cranking rpm substantially.
