Standard Motec and SkiDoo can together on one bus

Postby Yellow Fever on Wed Oct 26, 2022 10:02 am

I have a plug and play M130 kit on a 2018 SkiDoo 1200. The M130 has the can bus set up to run all the factory dash functions like reverse, hand warmers, air suspension, tach and speedo. I bought a dash that can read the standard Motec data stream or any other stream with the correct CANX file, to supplement the data the stock dash is missing, AKA "all the fun stuff" The problem I'm having is that I believe the standard Motec can stream has been turned off in favor of the custom can stream that's running the stock skidoo stuff in my M130. Can both the custom Skidoo can stream and the standard Motec stream "much more available info than SkiDoo stream" be put on the same can bus since the m130 only has one can bus to work with? Wouldn't even running a Motec dash still need both the SkiDoo and standard Motec cans on the same bus to work even with all the Motec and Skidoo stuff at the same time?

I am not particularly familiar with the ski doo kit. To turn on the M1 transmit, you can navigate to Vehicle >Communications and set the ECU Transmit to CAN 1

This will make the M1 send the MoTeC transmit messaging on the bus along with the OE messaging.

You will just need to check the Can Bus 1 diagnostic to ensure you don't get and "Transmit Overrun" warnings.

If this occurs, the M1 Transmit is utilising to much of the available can bus bandwidth and won't be able to use the Motec transmit for the 'fun stuff'. If the diag remains on OK, you will be good to go.
