Motec IGN 4

Postby Ralle#67 on Mon May 16, 2022 1:04 am

Hello, I use an IGN 4 with my M 170. When measuring the charging voltage of the ignition coils with an oscilloscope, we found that the coils at 13 volts need 5 milliseconds to reach their full charge. Is such a long charging time okay, or is it too much for the IGN4?
Best regards
Ralf

Hi Ralf,

Some coils need two to three times as long a dwell time at the same voltage, so your 5ms is going to be fine. I use an IGN4 for calibrating coils and I have put much longer dwell times and voltages through it for testing.
