Scale Modem Auto / Manual

Discussion and support for i2 Standard and i2 Pro applications

Scale Modem Auto / Manual

Postby autofetish on Sat Mar 12, 2022 1:30 am

When pulling in the channel to display in i2 Standard, a scale mode can be selected Auto or manual.

When using auto Scale, how are the upper and low limits calculated?

In the below example, Min is always 0, and Max is mainly 40 apart from Group 6, which is 22.5

Ideally, the auto function would look at the lowest and highest data value and display slightly wider than this for maximum viewing pleasure.

Yes, I can go manually change this for every channel.

Does i2 Pro change any of these functions as I'm talking myself into upgrading?

Many thanks for your help

When you look at the list of channels in your screenshot the min/max values that are in brackets are calculated based on the data values of the channel, everything without brackets is manually set (even if it is in a group that is set to auto).

Each channel can be set to Auto/Manual and if set to manual this overrides the auto scaling in the T/D graph group.

This is set in 2 ways, either the user in i2 sets it by going to the channel properties (double click the channel name in the T/D Properties window or right click>channel properties directly from the T/D graph) or if the data is from an M1 ECU the display range can be set in the Build Project.

If you go to the channel properties and set it to auto the auto scaling in the T/D graph will work.

It works the same in both i2 standard and i2 pro.

Hello Adrian

Many thanks for your help very helpfully appreciate it!

I fully understand and the system works as you describe it as it should have no issues.

Attached you will see I have randomly selected a few channels. Some have autoscaled correctly (in brackets)

Some have decided to set themself to manual. Is there any reason for this?

You mention that from the M1, the ranges can be set in the building project is there any good docmention on this? Not sure where this is.

I have just upgraded the ECU to Pro and want to set up all my workbooks and worksheets 100% perfectly

again thanks for your help love the system

No there isn't any documentation on which channels have display limits or what the range is, it is just simply what the programmer at the time decided was a suitable range for the particular channel.

Unless you have the Build project then the only way to see what the manual limits are is by checking the channel properties of the logged channel in i2.

One thing to remember, if you change the properties of the channel in i2 from manual to auto it will save that setting for that channel. So it will be auto for that channel for all of your log files, you don't have to change it every time you open new log files.

Understood

It's a standard M150 GPR Drag package so might make sense if there were all set to auto as default

again many thanks very helpful
