C127 CAN Address Overlap

Postby HKS_TRD on Sat Feb 26, 2022 5:47 pm

I encountered an error stating that the CAN addresses of one of my devices, an M800 custom dataset, has a base address which is conflicting with other peripheral devices when I tried logging a new config file.
The base address for the M800 custom dataset is 618 and none of the other devices are using this base address.
Is it possibly related to the fact that I still had the standard dataset in the list of devices, I had only assigned additional items not available in the standard dataset to the custom dataset and they both have a different base address so I wouldn't have thought this would be the issue
Is there another device that uses a base address of 618 by default
The warning message did give me the option of loading the file anyway but I didn't proceed

Hi,

Please see attached the list of addresses for MoTeC devices.

Thanks for that
How do I select primary and secondary CAN for each template in ECU manager, I couldn't find that

I usually get that after I have deleted one CAN template, then added another with the same address. My workaround, is to close the Communications Setup window after removing a template, then re-open and select the new template.

I was able to create my config file but had the error attached when trying to send it to the display
Is it at all related to the fact my file contains the standard M800 dataset AND a custom M800 dataset because even though the base addresses are different some of the individual channels may have the same CAN address

Did you say yes to that dialog box, and send it anyway? I bet it works.

I didn't but maybe I should, I only had a handful of channels in the custom data set
Eventually I was going to just use a custom dataset with everything I plan to use but then I'd have to go through the entire display config and reassign everything, just adding a second data set with the few extra things I needed seemed easier

The warning is because the address you are using is in the default range used by some of our expanders, you can change the addresses by doing the following.

Go to Connections>Devices and click the 'Edit' button in the bottom left hand corner and then click properties. Change the addresses to something outside what you are using on the CAN bus.

Thanks Adrian
Seeing as I am not using an expander if I was to send the file to the display would I experience any issues?

It won't cause you any issues sending the config, it will just give you that warning every time you send it.

Just change the default and you won't get the warning anymore.
