Motec GPSL-10 and data export

Postby qorwkwkd20 on Fri Feb 04, 2022 5:09 pm

Hi, currently I am using

Motec C185
Motec GPS L10
Motec I2 Pro

Based on these system, I can see a route clearly based on google map.

AND... I want to get these things as a x, y coordinates.
However, what I get when exporting data, it is just GPS latitude, longitude. These are far away from x, y coordinate.

How can I derive these data as a x, y coordinate?

Regards,

What scale of distance/s does your data cover?

Latitude and Longitude coordinates from a GPS are referenced to a Geographical Coordinate System (GCS) like WGS84 (or maybe GDA94 if you are in Australia) which is 3-dimensional. If you want to have x, y coordinates you need to re-project the coordinates to a map projection system.

UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) is a common map projection which gives Easting and Northing coordinates which are in metres from the reference points for the particular UTM grid your coordinates are in. If you load your coordinates into Google Earth Pro in Lat/Long format you can change to UTM coordinates through the Tools - Options menu. That allows you to make measurements in metres on GEP.

If you want to reproject all your logged coordinates to UTM you will probably need some GIS software (like QGIS).
