SDL as rally odo

Postby Martin on Tue Mar 17, 2009 7:41 am

Would Motec be able to give us the functionality to use a SDL as an ODO in a rally car?

It must be able to show Total distance, split distance, fuel remaining, speed, and all the reglular odo functions. What would be great is the fact that it can double as a warning display, drive and SLM and share data with other devices over CAN and even get its speed and distance from a GPS so speed sensors are needed!

Maybe somebody else also need this?

Thanks

Hi Martin,

The SDL can already do the majority of the functions that you have mentioned, please download the software http://www.motec.com.au/software/latestreleases/ and have a look.
If you cannot find any features in the SDL that you think might be useful let us know and we can add it as a request for a future release.

Hi Nathan

the trip distance of the SDL resolution is insuffiecient since its only down to 100m`s

The only way to set up a distance channel thats got suffiecient resoltion is to use lap distance....for that you need to trigger a beacon to get it going. The way i have it at the moment is that it triggers on device up time.

This caused quite few headaches...since device uptime channel does not count from 0 upwards but rather 0 to 32 then to -32 up to 32 over and over. Why is the device uptime channel then displayed otherwise?

Thanks
