Creating custom or new CAN template for C127

Hello ,
I am going to buy a C127 display. I have been told that I can create new CAN templates for the other devices I made that are on the bus. I only have one CAN bus every thing is connected to this bus and runs a 500kbits . There is a M150 ECU two ECU Master PDM and two small ECU I made. I have tried to create a template, but I find I cannot add the item names and have to select from an existing list in the CAN template creation software. Here is a screen shot of what I want to add as a new template. Another question can I add these to the M1 template to make it easy,

You can edit the channel names in the C127 Dash Manager to suit your needs. Use Tools->Edit Channels... (be sure to tick the "show unassigned channels" to see the whole list) to accomplish this. Usually we use the GP <Units> N channels that have the appropriate units and resolution, then edit the name to mean something to us for configuration and analysis.

For the channels you've shown (jsut realized I didn't scroll to see them all, but you get the point), I would probably use the existing channels:
Fuel Level
Ambient Temp
Cruise Ctrl Status
Air Temp Icooler In (or Icooler Water T In XX if this is really water temp)
Air Temp Icooler Out
Lights High Beam Status
Indicator Right
Indicator Left

You will have to create channels for your Horn status

The other way you can do this is if you have a DBC file describing your messages / channels, then using Import DBC will create all the channels for you with the exact names, I believe.

Is there standalone software to create BDC files or template files. The display creator software looks like it could allow me to edit a BDC file if edit was enabled.

The Vector DB++ software is what we typically use to make dbc files, you can download it from their website here
