M150GPR and AIM dash Gear display

Postby rayhall on Wed Jul 07, 2021 5:59 pm

Hello,
I cannot get the Gear to display correctly on my AIM dash . Ron at AIMsports said maybe my M1 has a CAN data stream that is different to what I have the dash CAN protocols set as . My M1 has firmware version 01.10.0024
Here is a screen shot of the CN setting I am using. The dash displays 7th gear all the time.

Hi Ray,

That CAN Setup in the Aim lines up with the CAN Transmitted out of GPR 01.10.0024.

Can you download and install the MoTeC Utilities Package from here and run the CAN Inspector program. When the program is running, can you do a capture with the Gear Position reporting Neutral in M1 Tune and then select a gear so that the Gear Position displayed in the M1 changes from Neutral to the selected Gear. Once this is done, save the generated CAN Inspector log and post the file here.

Stephen,
Here are two CAN data files. First and Third gear. I should mention I am not using the standard AIM M1 can protocols. I had to make my own protocols setup as I wanted to add in other device information on the Bus that were not Motec product. So the settings I showed you for gear are what I created.
Ray.

Hi Ray,

I missed the bit ordering at the top of your image before, this is how it should be laid out.

The 7 that is being displayed on your dash is actually the Engine_Speed_Reference_State channel, with 7 representing Cycle Lock.

Sephen,
I cannot see any difference between first and third gear HEX values ?

21 00 00 01 01 10 71 00 First
21 00 00 01 01 10 73 00 third

But it is the correct bits. Hex digits 0-9 look just like decimal digits 0-9, so those are the correct bits. You just need to get the Aim custom CAN configuration to align with that.

Here is the correct AIM config
