Logs and display ignition timing

Postby chuckk on Fri Oct 30, 2020 12:40 am

Hello !

Is there a reason why the dash shows negative timing values all the time ? Logs shows negative values also.

Ex: 6000rpm WOT shows -25 instead of the actual 25 degrees. The ignition timing values are always negative on the display.

Seems like a wrong CAN template ? Everything else is working like it should in terms of data. Using these templates:
M1_General_0X640_version5
M1_General_0X650_Version5
M1_General_0X670_Version1
M1_General_0X6A0_Version1

Thanks !

The reason is because the base units is "Angle (degrees)" aka "Degrees ATDC" or "Degrees After Top Dead Center". In a MoTeC dash (or I2), you can change the units to display "degrees BTDC" (Degrees Before Top Dead Center), which will make it a positive number.

I went ahead and changed the display units but it is still negative. I also tried editing the ignition timing channel without any luck. No matter what I choose it’s still showing up as if it would be ATDC...

Thanks again

I can confirm that on a C127 running 6.13E firmware, that changing the display to show degrees ATDC or degrees BTDC does not change the sign of the Ignition Timing channel.

However, I2 does do this properly.

Hi David,

Thanks for trying it out ! I usually try to figure things out before calling for support but I’ll let them know it seems to be a bug.

Thanks again

If you have a open 2d or 3d table you can create a new channel from ignition timing to display postive numbers. Its a temporary fix.
