Reverse switch over CAN

Postby Islandworks on Wed Sep 02, 2020 6:13 am

Hi,

Is there a way to transmit the gear box reverse switch signal over CAN bus? The clutch and neutral switch is part of the PDM can bus protocol, but I cannot find the reverse switch anywhere.

In a Porsche the reverse switch is just next to the engine and it would be easiest to pull it into the ECU together with the rest of the harness rather than to pull it to the PDM.

Thanks!

I would use one of the vehicle Driver Switches -- these are sent over the standard M1 GP messages (CAN ID 0x650), you could setup the PDM to receive this, but it would probably be better in the Dash where you could change the Gear to show "R" as well. Dash has more configurable CAN bus, so it's much easier to receive things from the ECU, then re-send to the PDM in a format the PDM can deal with.
