Why is everything so hard.

Postby rayhall on Sun Feb 02, 2020 7:50 pm

I have been trying to get launch control setup to do a basic launch. All I want is the launch RPM with some ignition retard. I have a clutch pedal switch. The time I have spent trying to get it to work I could have setup 10 Link/ Vipec and 10 Autronic.
Why so many settings that just confuse when I cannot get it to work. Makes the ECU a very unfriendly. No wonder Haltech has kicked Motec's bum in the USA market. A market that demands simple easy to setup ECU that works. Haltech is very user friendly and very good support. May be Motec needs to get off it high horse and admit other ECU manufactures do it so much better for less money.
No need to ban me again. I will change to the Haltech NEXUS very soon and be gorn out of your life.
Is there a webinar that so who to do a simple launch like I want. I cannot ask for support in my state as the dealer refuses to do work for me. Another reason to move the something with support.
Ray.

Have you looked at:

https://www.motec.com.au/filedownload.p ... docid=5338

I was able to configure & test a usable launch control (I had never done it before) in a couple of hours.

I have the launch control working. Not very well it slows the car down a lot. I am sure the problem is with the
RPM vs Kph table.
To me the launch should be renamed open loop traction control.
I have data logged the rpm vs kph here are my values

Code: Select all
Kph        20    30       40     50      60     80
RPM 1st    2133  4000, 4300, 5400
RPM 2nd   1136  1800,  2324,  2925,  3559,  4644

The reason for the second gear values is I have been told to launch in second gear in this car for best results.

How should my Launch engine speed able be setup.
I have it like this and it bogs the car down.

Code: Select all
Vehicle  Speed Kph
  2.0      20      40    60     80
4000,  2280   2500 3500 7000

Hi Ray,

For a quick test you could disable driver launch aim switch input, then simply set the vehicle speed from 0-20 to have 3500rpm, increasing to 4000rpm. After 20km/h, at a setpoint you believe you'll have full traction, setup the 3rd site to have your full engine limit. (press A to setup axis') Assuming you arent using a button to control the state of this function.

If you are, you could do a single site setup like I have done on an evo rally car I look after- which will simply disable itself once the button is depressed.

Ray, what's the vehicle and application? I'm assuming it has a crazy low first gear..
