Changing CAN Bus Bit rate

Postby Turby on Mon Jan 06, 2020 8:50 pm

Hi all, I seem unable to change the setting of the can bus bit rate of my PDM 30. The PDM is reporting Firmware Version 1.91A and I'm currently using 1 Mbps quite happily. I want to re-use the PDM on another car but now want to use can bus bit rate of 500 Kbps.

I have the latest version oi PDM manager installed (1.9.1.0012), and Motec UTC connected.

I go to Tools > Options > Communications

The PDM Manager CAN bus bitrate is currently set to 1 Mbps, there is also a button to set the "Bitrate conversion tool..."

When I press the "Bitrate conversion tool..." button, current bitrate is 1 Mbps, and new bitrate is 500 Kbps, press next, select my PDM using serial number and then the following dialog pops up

"The bootloader in PDM serial 11201 does not suport configurable CAN bitrates.

The PDM contains bootloader V2.01

Bootloader V2.10 (or later) is required for configurable CAN bitrates.

The PDM bootloader can only be upgraded by MoTeC."

Is there anyway of me changing it or do I have to return the unit to Motec for a reflash?

I'm going to AutoSport International at the NEC this Friday and could take it with me to hand over at the stand assuming Motec are there... Anyone have a direct email address for support in the UK ?

Cheers
Toby

Hi Toby,

It will need to be done through MoTeC UK as the update of the boot loader requires the PDM to be re-calibrated.The calibration process can only be done in Australia.
