VDO 10 Bar Calibration

Postby Jayz-1 on Tue Jan 06, 2009 3:33 pm

Hey Guys,

My mate gave me a VDO 10 Bar Pressure Sensor to use for Oil Pressure, the part number is 300.002
I was just wondering if this sensor will work fine for oil pressure? Also if anyone has the calibration for this sensor with the M4.
I noticed there is a 10 Bar VDO sensor calibration listed on the site, but was just wondering if this sensor will work before i fit it.

Thanks in advance for your time

Hi Jason,

Yes that sensor should work fine assuming it is similar to the 360-721 10 bar sensor.

Follow the drawing here http://motec.com.au/filedownload.php/x07.pdf?docid=1314 for wiring. Unfortuantly the calibration for an M4 is not listed.
Depending what units you wish to display the oil pressure in will change the calibration.
Connect to the ECU.
Within the Sensor Setup page, for the Aux Voltage select a user definable range. -3 will give a range of 0 to 1000kPa.
Select Sensor Cal Tables and Aux Volt from the menu.
For each pressure value you need to apply that pressure to the sensor and hit enter, for 0 kPa to 1000 kPa. This will lock in the current A/D value the sensor is reading on each site.
The selected site has the live reading and should change with a change of pressure.

I've also got a M4 and VDO 10 bar pressure sensor which is connected to AUX Voltage in conjunction with the 560 Ohm resistor as shown in the X07 data sheet.

I've done the following
Sensor Setup > Sensor Setup > Auv Voltage has been set to -3 (ie 1000 kPa 10 bar)

But would like to know what goes in the Aux Voltage calibration table...
Sensor Setup > Sensor Cal Tables > Aux Volt

The table shows 0, 40, 80, 120, 160, 200, 240 etc across the top and requires me to input the corresponding A/D values.

Does anyone have the appropriate value to plug in, preferably so I can view them on the status display in units of PSI rather than bar.

Thanks in advance
